2012 Provincial Meeting of the Province of Kent

7th July 2012

The Installation of Right Eminent Knight Peter John McIntyre as the 19th Ruler of Knights Templar of Kent took place on Saturday 7th July 2012 at Bromley.

The torrential rains which had persisted all through the week, held off for the most part, allowing the largest assembly of Knights in Kentís History to attend the Installation, and the Provincial Meeting after lunch.

More than 280 knights witnessed the ceremony, carried out by the Very High & Right Eminent Great Seneschal, Malcolm Slater. Unfortunately the ME&S Grand Master had been taken unwell some 36 hours beforehand.

R.E.Kt. McIntyre, looking somewhat like a Cheshire Cat, was Installed expertly as the 7th Provincial Prior for Kent, and then proceeded to Install V.E.Kt. Colin Paul Tunbridge, (some 10 years Deputy Marshal & Marshal for the Province) as his Sub-Prior.

The Great Priory Team retired, and Provincial Priory was adjourned for a refection at which over 230 knights were seated. The diners were then treated to a display of precision service by Oakley House Staff which left the newer Visitors astounded!

At 3pm, Provincial Priory was resumed, and the 16 Visiting Provincial Priors, and their respective deputations were officially greeted, the new Provincial Team were Invested and we were treated to the Inaugural Address of the Provincial Prior. NB Ė All references and barracking relating to the East Kent Craft Pantomime have been omitted for the sake of brevity!

A wonderful day at Oakley House.
